"Rooted HEIR", a Soul Bearing Memoir, Issues a Stark Reminder of The Child Abuse and Trauma Some Children Face
“Rooted HEIR” is a new book by Christina Somera which speaks through scars to help turn trauma into wisdom.

Indie author Christina Somera announces the release of Rooted HEIR, a new soul bearing memoir by Christina Somera. Trauma sucks! It’s painful, dark, and lonely. Rooted HEIR is a vivid and transparent memoir that takes you on one woman’s journey of suffering, self-discovery, and forgiveness.

Have you ever asked yourself, who am I, when you strip away the titles and roles that you’ve been defined by? Well, she did, and she didn’t have a clue. She needed to hold up the mirror, grab the shovel, and start unearthing the traumas that held her freedom. But where do you start? …At the beginning

In her own words Christina reveals the most intimate parts of her life from the childhood abuses to her own self-destructive ways, and the lessons she has learned along the way in pursuit of healing. Rooted HEIR is a courageous story filled with the voice of brutal honesty. Her voice that was silenced many times now can be heard in hopes that others will know they too can speak.

According to the Department of Health and Human Services in 2020, almost 4 million children were involved in maltreatment investigations.  Out of those investigations 618,000 children were found to be victims of abuse or neglect. More than 77 percent of the perpetrators of the abuse are parents of the victims. This is something Christina knows all too well having experienced it first-hand.  According to SAMAHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) More than two thirds of children reported they have experienced 1 traumatic event by age 16, and 1 in 7 children have experienced abuse or neglect in the past year.  In 2020 there were 1,750 children that died from abuse or neglect in United States. The Recognize Trauma foundation states 4 out of 10 children say they have experienced a physical assault during the past year, and the CDC shows more than 60 percent of American adults have as children experienced at least one ACE, while a quarter of adults have experienced 3 or more ACES.

ACES are defined by the Center of Developing Children at Harvard University as “Adverse Childhood Experiences. These experiences can include physical and emotional abuse, neglect, caregiver mental illness, and household violence. The more ACES a child experiences, the more likely he or she is to suffer from things like heart disease and diabetes, poor academic achievement, substance abuse, and suicide. Some of which Christina personally speaks to in her book Rooted HEIR. Christina herself has experienced 7 out of the 10 ACES that are screened for when assessing someone who has dealt with childhood trauma.

Pre-publication reviews reveal a highly transparent and moving read. One reviewer wrote, “This memoir is so vivid, so powerful and pitch-perfect, that I experienced many emotions, it has a brutally honest and very emotional tone that will make your body shiver in every chapter!” Another reviewer said, “Definitely a must read! An amazing testimony of healing.” While another reviewer states, “Christina bears her soul and private thoughts so publicly with the hopes of helping others who may find themselves in similar situations giving them the courage to rise up out of the chaos and trauma and walk into the light of a brighter future.” Rooted HEIR has received 5-star reviews from Literary Titan as well as Readers Favorite.

Rooted HEIR is available as an e-book and paperback through Amazon and Barnes and Noble. The Book Launch Event will be held on Sat, Jan 21, 2023- Hampton Inn Long Beach Airport.
