Venture Capitalist Andrew Knott Takes Over Ownership of Sagebrush Golf Club

Knott is revitalizing the club to its previous top course status

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – December 27, 2022 – Vancouver venture capitalist Andrew Knott is thrilled to announce he is the new owner of Sagebrush. Located in Quilchena, British Columbia, the golf club is scheduled for a major renovation under Knott’s direction, with the goal of making it a world-class destination course.

Nestled high above Nicola Lake in British Columbia, Sagebrush – previously known as the Sagebrush Golf & Sporting Club – opened its doors in 2009. Already a star amongst boutique courses, it placed in the Top 100 Courses in Canada according to SCORE Golf and even went on to win Best New Course in Canada by Golf Digest the same year. Rod Whitman, founder Richard Zokel and agronomist Armen Suny co-designed the course that blends classic rugged characteristics of links-style golf with a unique minimalist design. Although treacherous at times with the gentle, yet powerful winds of the Thompson-Okanagan region, the dramatic elevation changes of this bold course ensure a unique experience unmatched anywhere else.

After five long years of being closed, Knott and his team have worked hard to bring Sagebrush back to its former glory. With the added benefit of being located above Nicola Lake, this par-72 championship course has a lot to offer potential golfers. With lush fairways and serene settings, their plan is to make Sagebrush an oasis for those looking for a tournament-style experience with a casual atmosphere.

Knott is a venture capitalist with 15 years of relevant experience covering land assembly and residential land development and a keen eye for innovative approaches to the construction of local communities. As a member of the World Housing ‘Founder Group,’ Knott deeply believes that every human is part of a collective responsibility of looking after each other – a core value shared by World Housing. Moreover, his already successful career provides him with the confidence he needs to turn Sagebrush into one of the top golf courses in Canada again.

With the return of former superintendent Neil Pilon, the golf course at Sagebrush is finally getting the attention it deserves. Many needed items for course maintenance had been repossessed when payments were halted in recent years, but a renewed commitment to the golf course has alleviated those issues. Thanks to the investment of new resources and funds, Pilon has already made considerable progress on the course during his tenure last fall, and he will be hard at work again this spring.

The past couple of years has seen Knott make a major investment in the club, with more than $4 million being spent. This expenditure has not been made in vain, as the course is now financially sound. Not only have new members joined the club, but it has also opened its doors to visitors and investors, hoping to maintain its long-standing success. No expenses were spared during this financial recovery process, as Knott hopes Sagebrush will become an even more successful golfing destination in the future.
