High Point, NC – 7 October, 2019 – Cancer Guideposts of Strength (“Cancer GPS”)is pleased to announce its inaugural summit that will be held on October 12, 2019 at the Hayworth Fine Arts Center’s Pauline Theater on the campus of High Point University from 1PM until 5 PM. The event will consist of 12 speakers, both cancer researchers and survivors, all speaking on the theme, “From Surviving to Thriving.”

“We are living in an age where Cancer is no longer the end, but the beginning of thriving,” says Oncologist and founder Dr. Bernard Chinnasami. “This event will bring awareness and hope to those who are suffering with cancer or have family members who are suffering with this disease. It will also help attendees see that Cancer is not the end of the world, but also what may become a new beginning.”

This event will be organized in the style of the popular TED events. However, aside from the technical and scientific presentations that attendees are sure to observe, there will also be stories of hope from those who have been on a journey with Cancer.

Cancer co-survivor and TEDxHighPoint Curator Michael E. Hayworth says, “This Summit is the first gathering of its sort, where Medical professionals and Patients as well as the community have come together to thrive. As a cancer co-survivor myself, I cannot wait to experience the Summit.”

Dr. Chinnasami has always had a vision of providing resources greater resources to the numerous patients he treats with cancer. In 2009, he he co-founded Cancer GPS, a 501c(3) organization, with patient and PR professional Cathy Weaver. Cancer GPS has gone from a vision to a committed organization that functioning provides an interactive website, access to trusted experts, cancer guides, volunteer mentors and “Intersections,” regular educational programs for patients with cancer and their families.

Dr. Chinnasami says, “Cancer GPS is just the beginning of making information more accessible to patients and their families. The summit on October 12th is the next major step as we move forward in helping patients and their families survive and thrive as a result of Cancer and the many roads this journey may take them.”
